Meet Emma Bradford

What is the name of your business?

Creating Change with Emma Bradford

How long have you been in business?

I’ve been supporting people with 1:1 sessions and workshops for the last 11 years.

Tell us more about your business, what do you love most about it?

I work mainly with women though have worked with a wide variety of people around the world online and also in person. Much of what I do is about supporting people in reducing anxiety, building self-esteem... falling back in love with themselves and life through a unique blend of creative arts, NLP and dance. I love seeing those lightbulb moments in clients and students, those moments when they reconnect to that spark within and celebrate life, it’s a gift to witness and to be a part of their journey of remembrance of how amazing they truly are.

Did you start your business in your hometown or here in Catalunya?
What was it like to move your business or start from scratch

I started here, just after I moved to Catalunya 12 years. I had been going through a difficult time, weekly panic attacks which led me down the road of learning about the mind and emotions through NLP and in turn letting go of weekly panic attacks for good. From there I was able to support others in doing the same. It hasn’t always been easy, and I’ve had a few little side jobs alongside my work when needed too. This has brought me great variety, experience and support as I build up my business.

What has been the hardest part of running your business in a foreign town?

Language has been the hardest part, especially when dealing with accountants and legal documents.

Did you make a rookie mistake to help others avoid it?

Oh many lessons! I signed up to be self-employed too early, when my income was not coming in steady enough to pay the regular payments. I also had a retreats and workshops that never went ahead and still needed to pay rental fees... marketing by far has been the biggest learning curve and still learning as the online world changes so quickly. What worked 10 years ago doesn’t work today so I have to continuously reflect and improve how I share my work.

What’s your favourite productivity hack for entrepreneurs?

The MIND / BODY to do list. Often, as entrepreneurs it’s easy to over work and churn through massive to do lists, resulting in burnout. When I notice my list getting too big, and overwhelm arising I get an A4 piece of paper and draw two columns. The left hand side is the to do list for the mind, the right hand side isthe to do list for the body. I give my mind the opportunity to put down everything it wants to do into the first column. Then I pick 2-5 tasks from that list that are the most important and necessary and transfer them to the body list. The tasks on the BODY list are the things for the day. Also Fiverr has been a great help in having extra support to keep my podcast running.

What do you love and hate about the digital world?

It’s amazing to meet and connect with so many people all around the world. I’ve worked with clients from USA, Switzerland, China, UK, Netherlands, Ireland etc. And, what I dislike is the way social media companies know and use human psychology to make apps more addictive and keep people online for longer. As a NLP trainer know how the mind works and I see these tactics being used by companies and people's attention spans and focus reducing as a result.
