What are local business directories?

To be honest, I could go on for days about SEO, local SEO and directories…I’ve worked in the digital industry for 20 years and I have loved and loathed it…often at the same time. Building, optimising and keeping on top of a website can be a full time job, so if you are time poor or digitally uninterested, a local directory can make life much easier!

Those olden days were full of directory listings and getting your business listed, provided valuable link juice for SEO efforts and helped a business climb the rankings of Google, Bing, Yahoo and MSN.

What is a local Directory?​

A local business listing is an online platform that lists local businesses and their information such as business name, address, phone number, website and operating hours.

We have added to this with the options to write your own blog posts, which show on your listing. Events that are added to the events calendar and shown in your listing page as well as languages spoken. We also offer valuable tags and features relevant to your business sector that help users find you in multiple ways.

Directories are usually categorised by location and business type, making it super easy for customers to find you and interact with you. Another advantage we offer, is your own private dedicated dashboard – an easy way to manage your listing, posts, events and conversations with customers.

1.      We are time poor and need the information now – Little Paper Towns offers a multitude of ways for visitors to find you.

2.     We don’t want advertising that steers us towards those businesses who have bigger budgets! On our site, everyone pays the same and gets the same opportunities. If you want to e more visible we encourage you to write blogs and add events, announcements and discounts.

3.     We hate (!) pop up boxes that stop us from reading what we searched for. You won’t find any of those on our site.

4.     Negative, fake news that makes us all miserable! We only want to share positive, uplifting local news that inspires us and makes us motivated and happy.

5.     Not being able to find a business we were recommended. Reviews can be added to your Member page through the comments.
